“A Modern, Thriving Society” is the fourth chapter of the official Life in the UK handbook. It covers everyday British culture — how people live, what they celebrate, what they watch and play, and the places they visit.
Most people find this chapter more enjoyable to read than the history chapter, but it is still dense with specific facts. Expect questions on named people, dates, festivals and places rather than general themes.

Tip: This chapter rewards learning names and dates. When you read about a composer, athlete or festival, note the name and what it is known for — that is usually the level of detail the test asks for.
